Photographs; and the legacy of memories
“Knowing it exists is not enough. Get informed.
Pass it on.”
I want to talk about something that is so, so important to every single woman on the planet.
Cervical Cancer.
It’s something that as women, we are all very aware of how indiscriminate it is and how important it is to have regular Pap smears.
Meet Eva. Wife to Kim, mum of four, grandmother to two. Eva, 50, has stage three cervical cancer.
In light of Eva’s diagnosis, I was honoured to be asked by her children to take these beautiful family portraits of their family. When I look at these images, with Eva placed perfectly in the centre, surrounded by her whole entire world - I feel warm and extremely sentimental.
It reminds me of importance of capturing these moments with our loved ones.
It reminds me that photographs; are the legacy of our memories.
Krishna has written a beautiful tribute to her mum below, please read and share her story x
“August 2019 our lives changed forever. Our beautiful Mum was diagnosed with stage three cervical cancer. It’s been a roller coaster of emotions for us all, but through all the heartache our mum has shown us nothing but strength and determination. Even when her treatment made her at her weakest, she was and is the glue that holds us all together.”
“She continues to inspire us daily with her positivity and willingness to keep on fighting. The love that’s she has for us all and her grandchildren is what keeps her motivated to get out of bed each morning and continue fighting on. “
“Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women. In 2018, an estimated 570,000 women were diagnosed with cervical cancer worldwide and about 311,000 women died from the disease. For all those reading please take the time to discuss having a pap smear with women in your life as it may help save their lives. “
A big thank you to Eva, Kim, Krishna and Ryan for allowing me the opportunity to capture your beautiful family during this difficult time.
Ladies, if you are reading this and you haven’t done so recently, please book your Pap smear today.
